Local clay

2025

In the search for local resources, I found marine clay in the autumn of 2025. I have been experimenting with it to find the firing temperature and making glazes with more and less luck, which can be seen at the disc tests. The original clay becomes a dark terracotta. Fired in a reducing kiln at too high a temperature it becomes a beautiful gray that again turns into a dark blob that sticks to whatever it stands on. Including kiln stands as seen in both the main picture and the last.
